Teaching English as a Foreign Language

On September 21, 2006, at the meeting organized by the American Information and Cultural Center “American Corner”, the Regional English Language Officer Craig Dicker spoke with local English- teaching specialists from higher education centers about issues related to teaching English as a foreign language. The meeting aimed to review the present state of approach to teaching English. Giving opportunity to exchange ideas was in opinion of participants very fruitful because of gaining proper understanding of challenging tasks of language education. Besides, it is the first step to cooperation in different fields such as English Language Fellows Program.

After the meeting at American Corner, Mr. Dicker visited high school no 10 where he took part as an observer in two English classes. The classes covered the press topic. They were a perfect example of variety of language exercises. Then, a short meeting with English teachers was organized in order to share their experience.
