Jan A. Hausbrandt urodził się w 1952 r. w Warszawie. Swoją działalność zawodową rozpoczął w 1972 r. jako fotoreporter w Polskiej Agencji Interpress.
W latach 1977-1980 związany był z redakcją "Ruch Muzyczny", dla której dokumentował wydarzenia w świecie muzyki poważnej. W tym samym czasie nawiązał kontakt z agencją "Camera Press" w Londynie i niemiecką agencją "Fokus" w Hamburgu.
W latach osiemdziesiątych, również w okresie stanu wojennego, kontynuował pracę fotoreportera dla tych agencji dokumentując wydarzenia i codzienną rzeczywistość w Polsce. Powstałe wówczas fotografie stanowią dokument tamtych trudnych czasów.
W 1984 r. ostatecznie przeniósł się do Stanów Zjednoczonych, gdzie pracował dla agencji "Black Star", magazynu "Newsweek i "US News & Word Report".
Od szeregu lat pracuje dla japońskiej agencji Pan-Asia, którą zaopatruje w fotografie
ze Stanów Zjednoczonych o tematyce biznesowej i turystycznej. Równolegle rozwija
zainteresowanie fotografią artystyczną - prezentowana wystawa "Nowy Jork" jest
interesującym przykładem ambicji estetycznych i poszukiwań warsztatowych autora.
Jan A. Hausbrandt was born in Warsaw in 1952. He started his work as a photojournalist in 1972 for
Interpress Agency in Warsaw and quickly established himself as the press and editorial photographer in Europe.
In 1977-1980 he cooperated with editorial staff of Ruch Muzyczny and with editorial Camera Press in London, and German agency Focus in Hamburg.
In early 1980s, as well as during martial law he continues working for all agencies as a photographer, documenting all events and harsh reality.
Photographs made by him in that time are true documents from ours history.
He moved to the US in 1984. His works have been published in Time, Newsweek, US News & Word Report,
Spiegel and Zeit magazines. For many years he is working with Japanese agency Pan Asia, which he provides with business
and tourists photos of U.S. He is well known on the international forum and has been awarded for spontaneity humanism,
imaginative and skillful narration that comes thought in his works.
