ALIASCON 2008: FESTIVAL OF NARRATIVE CARTOON STORIES AT THE AMERICAN CORNER
On April 18, the opening of the comic festival ALIASCON 2008 took place at the American Corner The event began with a presentation by
Eric Salzman of the U.S. Consulate in Krakow on the history of the American comic book from its origins in the 1930s to the present, describing
the groundbreaking "golden age" of the 1940s, the industry's rebirth in the "silver age"
of the 1960s, the socially relevant "bronze age" of the 1970s, and the "modern" or "dark age" of the 1980s and 1990s. Next, Christian Dumas spoke
about American comic books in the 21st century. Following a short break, Polish author Daniel Grzeszkiewicz opened his exhibition at the American Corner
and spoke with his fans about Polish comic books.
